I first met photography when I was 16 years old. My high school had a classroom entirely devoted to photography. We were allowed a specific amount of film and paper, and we could sign up for time slots in the darkroom. I loved the peace and quiet of the darkroom with its sole red light.

And now we exist in the digital age. Which, given the toxic content of the darkroom chemicals, may not be the worst thing for our long term health.

Here are some random facts about me.

  1. I love weddings. This might be silly to say, but I know some photographers don't like them. I think it is good to know that I wake up excited to be at your wedding.
  2. Like baby bear, my goal is to be "just right". With wedding photography this is an art. For some portions of the day you want to exist like a shadow for times like the ceremony or a first look. Other times you are directing a large group of people. Like during family photos. The wedding is all about the bride and groom, and my job is to carefully navigate my presence.
  3. I don't mind the heat. It's true. I think this might because I grew up in Northeast Oklahoma. 100 degree days weren't unheard of, and as an avid outdoor person beginning in my youth, I think I just acclimated to it. Thus, I can schlep around my gear, wearing all black, and while I might break a sweat - I'm doing it joyfully.
  4. I will pull insects off your wedding dress. You might think this is funny, but if you are getting married outside, and having any kind of outdoor portrait, you might need debugging. For some reason they those little critter love wedding dress material. No worries, I can take care of them. (More thanks to my outdoor-loving childhood.)
  5. I can go with the flow. Weddings can be high stress days. Not just for the people getting married, but for everyone. I make it my mission to carry around an extra dose of grace for those around me.  I'm okay if some people feel frazzled. I hope that my experience can help provide the peace and help that might be needed.
  6. I'm up for it. Do you like to be spontaneous, and want to try something unique? I'd love to hear it. I'd love to go in whatever direction you get inspired to try.
  7. I love seeing your personality. I love all the ways people make their wedding day unique to who they are. It is so much fun to capture your unique personality, and all the ways you have made the days yours.
